The UAE has become a hot spot for the sport of wakesurfing and we’re here for it! With tons of access to the water and plenty of different clubs to go choose from, it’s rather easy to get on the water and surf. As opposed to the states where the norm is to have your own boat, or a buddy with a boat, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, they have “clubs” where you can call in to make a reservation to ride, with or without coaching. It takes the stress out of taking care of your own boat so all you have to do is show up and shred! Sounds pretty good, right?!
During our time in the UAE, we got to visit a number of these clubs and were treated to some really good times on the water. The first one we caught up with during our trip was Wakesurf AD, located in Abu Dhabi. This club is run by team riders Maryna Kaplan and Nick Gorbunov. They even have a pro shop, City Swell, for all of your gear needs. With the skyline of Abu Dhabi in the background as you shred, you feel like you’re on a different planet! Their crew always brings the good vibes and if you’re ever out that way, make sure to hit them up! You won’t regret it.
After our time on the water, we traded the boat wave for the surf wave pool when we visited Surf Abu Dhabi. This man-made wave pool is truly one of the best in the world and we were frothing to get barreled. Riders John Akerman, Max Smetts, and Markus Lahmer took turns paddling in and it’s safe to say that it was one of the highlights of the trip.
