Fresh off his 2024 World Championship, surf style shredder Sam “Sammy G” Goncalves has made the switch to Phase 5! Not only are we stoked to bring on someone with so much talent, he brings fresh ideas and concepts to the table which helps us bring even better boards to you! We’ve already started work on a pro model for him so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for that…but in the meantime, help us welcome Sammy G to team Phase 5!

PHASE 5: Sammy! Congrats on joining Phase 5. What is it about Phase 5 that made you want to switch?
Sammy: Thank you so much! It has always been a goal of mine to be part of the Phase 5 team. The reasons I joined P5 were the quality of the boards and the family of riders and owners that make PHASE 5 THE BEST TEAM IN WAKESURFING!
PHASE 5: What are your goals going into 2025?
Sammy: Win another world championship!!!
PHASE 5: What keeps you stoked on surfing?
Sammy: I love going out on the boat with family and friends. They all make it easy to stay stoked… and let’s face it, hitting new tricks! There is nothing better than that new trick stoke!
PHASE 5: Where do you find inspiration for your riding?
Sammy: I love a lot of aspects of wakesurfing. The styles I’m most inspired by are Jake Breedlove and Keenan Flegal, because they go HUGE! I love the technical or just different stuff too though. On that stuff, it’s Parker Paine and Connor Burns because they do crazy tricks that you wouldn’t think are possible with fins on a board. I think my style reflects aspects of all those guys. I try to do the most difficult tricks I can, but it has to look good…I try to keep it all way above the lip with a true “surf style” vibe.

Sammy: I’d just like to say that I’m super grateful to P5 for this opportunity. I’d like to thank everyone in the industry from volunteers, sponsors and event organizers, to drivers and other riders I’ve competed with over the years. You all have inspired me and helped me get to this point! Lastly, always remember to HAVE FUN OUT THERE!!
