2024 MN Wakesurf Championship Canceled

You may have already seen but bummer news from the Minnesota Wakesurf Championship competition that was supposed to go down this weekend! There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to putting on an event and sometimes the pieces don’t fit together. We’re bummed to see the MNWSC be canceled for 2024 but know they’ll come back even better in 2025! See below for a quote from the MNWSC about the situation:

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the on-water wakesurf competition for this season. Unprecedented flooding this late in the season in Minnesota has created a situation that, unfortunately, will not be resolved in time to hold a world-class competition.

The Water Patrol cannot issue a permit until the water levels are below the no-wake threshold. Additionally, the Watershed District has raised concerns about shoreline conditions due to the prolonged flooding. As a result, even if water levels drop significantly, there is no guarantee that the permit will be approved in time.

We understand that participants and spectators need time to adjust their travel schedules and plans. We are deeply saddened by this decision but remain committed to delivering an exceptional experience during Lumberjack Days.

While the wakesurf competition will not take place, all other activities, including the vendor showcases and the OHT party at River Siren Brewing Co, will proceed as planned. We encourage everyone to come out and support our amazing vendors, explore the latest gear, and enjoy the food, drinks, and music. Don’t miss the chance to check out the new 2024 Centurions and schedule an on-water demo.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Lumberjack Days Festival and the City of Stillwater for their unwavering support. A special thank you goes out to our incredible wakesurfing community and supporters. We are already planning improvements for the 2025 competition and welcome any feedback, positive or negative, to help us enhance future events.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, we do not profit from these events; our goal is to provide fun and positive opportunities while supporting our local heroes, amputees, and their family members. Please stop by our booth to pick up a commemorative jersey from “the event that never was” and show your support for a good cause.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”

Sincerely,

Jeremy Wahlberg -- Minnesota Wakesurf Championship (MNWSC)
