The Centurion World Series of Wakesurfing World Championship went down in Fort Worth, TX this past weekend and team Phase 5 crushed it, like always! The event took place October 9-12th so there was plenty of surf action to go around! Some notable highlights for the weekend were Jett Lambert and Whiltey Stewart both taking 1st in Pro Men’s and Women’s Skim, which made for Jett’s second world title and Whitley’s third! Congrats! We also had Rob McClelland taking 3rd in Pro Men’s Skim, with Luke Hutcherson and Reed Cole-Tucker taking 5th and 6th, respectively. We also saw Ashley Inloes take 2nd in Pro Women’s Skim, with Evie Shropshire and Cailtin Wheeler taking 4th and 5th, respectively.
2025 is right around the corner. What are you most excited for? A new board? A redesign on a board that’s already in the line? All the fresh new graphics?
Well, you’re in luck because we have all of those things for 2025 and more! Without giving anything away, we’ve got some new pro model boards, new construction techniques, brand new shapes for you to try out, new materials being used that make our boards even lighter and stronger than ever before, and more!
The 2024 Wake Canada National Wakesurf Championships presented by SWS Marine Group were held in southeast British Columbia over the weekend with the Phase 5 team riders making several podium finishes. Bailey Rush took first in Pro Womens Skim, with team riders Caroline Villeneuve taking second and Jolene Allen taking third. Rush, a dominant dual rider, went on to take gold and the National Championship in Pro Women’s Surf. With Ontario’s Timmy McNamee capturing the silver medal and P5 team rider Jolene Allen taking bronze.
When you go out and spend your hard earned cash on a brand new board, you want to rest assured that the board you’re riding has the same specifications as the pro you saw riding it, right? Well at Phase 5, that’s what we’re all about. We like to live by the motto “what you see is what you get”. There’s no fluff added behind the scenes to our boards and the boards that we send out to your local shop are the exact same boards that you see your favorite riders tearing it up on! Not only that but we make each and every board by hand in our factory in Venice, FL so we can monitor quality at the highest level.
The season is slowly but surely coming to an end. Last week, we had the final event in the Pro Wakeboard Tour for the surfing division and it was a solid time for team Phase 5! In case you haven’t been paying attention, Phase 5 has been dominating the event circuit lately and it’s most apparent with the closing of the PWT season. Jett Lambert, known for his consistency and technical prowess, 3-peated the events this year with 3 back-to-back-to-back 1st place finishes that landed him in the top spot for the overall title! Congrats, Jett!
Around this time last year, we released Jett Lambert’s pro model version of the super-popular skim style board, the Key. To commemorate such an occasion, we made some calls and got the approval to come ride and shoot at the legendary “Blue Lake” spot. This lake is such a rad spot to shoot because the water is beautiful and it’s a private spot so you don’t have to worry about any boat traffic messing with the calm water. What made this shoot even better was the inclusion of a helicopter to get some aerial angles. What a good day! Check out some shots from that shoot now!
Team Phase 5 has been killing it all over the place lately! Last weekend it was Jett Lambert and Rob McClelland placing at the PWT in Utah while John Akerman and Lee Hite took podium spots at the Nautique European Wakesurf Championships in London! This weekend is no different with the 2024 Wake the Desert and Waves of Hungary contests going down in Texas and Hungary, respectively. Check out the podium pictures below for Team Phase 5!
Lee Hite is a young gun and new to the Phase 5 team for 2024. He rips on both surf and skim style and just placed 3rd in Pro Men’s Skim at the Nautique European Wakesurf Championships so we’d say things are looking pretty good for him! Get to know him a little better below.
Two major contests went down this weekend – Stop #2 of the Pro Wakeboard Tour in Park City, Utah & the Nautique European Wakesurf Championships at Liquid Leisure in London. Team Phase 5 had an impressive showing at both contests with team riders appearing on each podium!
Our FLEXtec V2 construction is made to keep our boards strong, durable, and most importantly, FUN on the water. We only use the highest quality materials to ensure that every board is the créme de la créme before they’re sent out to be enjoyed by riders like you! Starting in the shaping room, each board is sanded down and shaped to the right dimensions and design. From there, it goes through many more steps where it’s glassed, reinforced, and fine tuned into the awesome shape that you’re stoked to ride! We’d go into more detail but the mystery is part of the fun! Find out more about the boards that make up the FLEXtec V2 Collection below!
You may have already seen but bummer news from the Minnesota Wakesurf Championship competition that was supposed to go down this weekend! There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to putting on an event and sometimes the pieces don’t fit together. We’re bummed to see the MNWSC be canceled for 2024 but know they’ll come back even better in 2025! See below for a quote from the MNWSC about the situation:
The largest board in our line at 8’ long, the Kahuna is a longboard rider’s best friend! Whether you want to ride it by yourself or tandem with a friend, the Kahuna is a part of our “Fun Surf” line for a reason! But, have you ever tried a “pop up'' start like a traditional surfboard? If not, you should! Check out a few pointers below to help you nail it!
This past weekend, we cruised up to Lake Lanier for the 2024 Southern Surf Slam! This event was jammed full with vendors, food trucks, music, and good times! We started on 6/27 with a pro/am clinic where riders got to pair up with the pros to get coached and even simulate their contest run later in the day. Things like this really help young riders not only gain confidence and learn new tricks but get more acquainted with the contest scene so they’re not so nervous going into their first competition!
The season is in full swing and team Phase 5 is claiming podiums like it’s nobody’s business! This past weekend was a whirlwind of events and once the dust had settled, team Phase 5 showed why they’re considered some of the best in the world! Check out the pics below of the team holding up some hardware!
First off, you’re probably wondering what FlightLite V2 means, right? Well, it’s our fancy term for our latest board construction technique. Since every board that Phase 5 produces is made by hand, that means we have the ability to implement these new techniques right on our factory floor so we know exactly how they work. We also get to see each board go from a chunk of rough foam to a finished masterpiece so we’re checking to make sure it lives up to our standards every step of the way.
Another contest has come and gone and it was another good showing for team Phase 5! The Volunteer Wake Surf Classic went down this past weekend in Johnson City, TN thanks to Centurion Boats and CBK Watersports. It was a solid weekend of surfing full of demos as well as the contest!
Phase 5 is excited to announce our sponsorship with the upcoming Southern Slam Surf Event on June 28th and 29th, on Lake Lanier, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Hosted by Surf ATL and benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Atlanta, this is sure to be one of the biggest stops on the World Series of Wakesurfing calendar with a purse of $25k!
Every year, we like to take some of our most popular shapes and give them a little extra. Whether that’s using some different materials to make the board lighter and stronger or a special graphic, we love a good LTD board! This year, we went with Drew Danielo’s pro models – the Hammerhead v3 and Diamond Turbo – as well as John Akerman’s skim – the MVP – and gave them the LTD trea
The “Come & Take It” Conroe Classic on Lake Conroe, just outside of Houston Texas, went down this past weekend and you know team Phase 5 was there to represent! A definite highlight of the weekend was a clean Phase 5 sweep of the pro men’s skim podium with Jett Lambert taking top honors, new team rider Luke Hutcherson cruising into 2nd, and Rob McClelland rounding out the podium in 3rd. Jett even jumped on the surf style and took third in pro men’s surf. Yeah, Jett! Evie Shropshire crushed it in pro women’s skim with a solid 2nd place finish while Faith Byram took 2nd in semi-pro women’s skim and Dana Wright took 2nd in women’s amateur skim.
Wake The Canyon, presented by the WWA, went down this past weekend at Buffalo Spring Lake in Lubbock, TX. The contest consisted of wakeboarding and wakesurfing. The hot Texas sun beat down as Team Phase 5 shredded and found themselves on some of the podiums! Congrats to all the riders who placed and a big thanks to the sponsors for putting on the event!
The 2024 contest season is here and we’re stoked! After seeing the Phase 5 team on the podium of almost every major event (usually in multiple divisions) in 2023, we can only guess that 2024 will be even better. The 2024 season officially kicks off THIS weekend in Arizona with the Wild West Wakesurf Shootout so keep your eyes peeled on our feed to find out who took home the win! Check out the list of events below and keep checking back to see more added as they’re announced! And if you’re in the area of any of these events, make sure to get out there and support the wakesurf scene by attending!
